The North Shore has become a prize pool area for the world renowned Sydney Symphony, after four coveted fellowships were granted to local residents.
A quarter of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s newest recruits will come from the North Shore, with 2016 Fellowships being awarded recently after two rounds of highly competitive auditions across the country.
Stephanie Vici from Chatswood, Bethan Lillicrap from Willoughby, Ben Toja from Lane Cova and Nathan Greentree from St Ives were among the talented pool of applicants, who will spend twelve months in the internationally renowned fellowship program with Australia’s premier orchestra.
Sixteen musicians under 30 were selected for the program, which will give them the experience and training necessary to secure playing positions with top professional orchestras across the globe.
Famous for sporting prowess, the North Shore could now be set to experience a musical overhaul, with several local schools and music groups emerging as top players in the scene.
